John,
Last month we celebrated Pride and the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. A particularly celebratory moment this year was SCOTUS ruling on Bostock v. Clayton County—SCOTUS ruled that companies do not have the right to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace.
This was a landmark moment, but there’s still more work to do.
LGBTQ+ people now have legal protection from discrimination at work, but it is still legal to discriminate against them at stores, restaurants, hotels, and federally funded programs—including adoption agencies and transportation services.
More recently, in another horrendous attack on LGBTQ+ rights, the Trump administration rolled back protections for LGBTQ+ people in the Affordable Care Act that made it illegal for doctors, hospitals, and others to deny care to a person if they disapproved of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
That's why we need your help. We have to beat this awful game of whack-a-mole against bad rules, court positions, and legislation, so it’s past time for comprehensive protections.
Join us in demanding Congress pass the Equality Act!
