Verified Voting is leading the fight to ensure every voter can trust that their ballot is counted as cast. We’ve made significant progress, including the use of paper ballots in nearly every jurisdiction nationwide, but our pursuit towards strengthening democracy for all voters is relentless. 

Even as we push for stronger post-election audit laws—to fill existing gaps([link removed])— and more resilient election systems, we are battling an unprecedented onslaught of dangerous mobile/internet voting proposals. These are not future threats; they are here now, jeopardizing the security of your vote.

Thanks to the dedication of our supporters, and in collaboration with partners in the field, we achieved crucial milestones that provided a vital defense for election integrity:
* Maryland passed legislation mandating risk-limiting audits (the most robust type of post-election audit) for one or more statewide contests, starting with their 2026 primary election. This is a critical step towards greater transparency and accuracy.
* Together, we defeated internet voting proposals in five states, notably in Nevada, Vermont, and Washington. Your efforts protected voter privacy and the security of the ballot.
* In Arizona, legislation passed expanding  the ability to appoint audit workers, so that every county can conduct audits in 2026. We also helped stop detrimental legislation that would have jeopardized voter privacy by adding identifiable numbers on ballots.
These wins show what’s possible when we work together. However, the work ahead is critical and preparations for 2026 are already underway. We face an urgent, immediate need to build on these wins to move the needle in every state. We’re identifying legislative champions, ironing out countless logistical details, and preparing to defend against new threats that could weaken our elections, and we cannot do it alone.
