The Republican-created government shutdown is over.
Although I believe it was past time for the government to open, I voted NO on the continuing resolution.
This resolution forces families to choose between food and health care. And John, I can't support that. Because health care is a right, not a privilege.
Strangely – and infuriatingly – the bill also gives at least eight Republican Senators $500 million or more in taxpayer funds. We can give billions to Argentina, half a billion to Republican Senators, and tax breaks to the already rich, but we aren’t willing to make health care just a little more affordable for those in need. Unconscionable.
Every day in Congress, I am working to lower costs, expand access, and improve care for every single American – especially for those in my district, where premiums are rising under this new spending bill. But I can't do this work alone.
Please, will you chip in $5 or more right now to help me continue the fight to protect health care and push back against the Trump administration when they refuse to feed hardworking Americans?
