Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a disturbing increase in reports of ICE agents targeting Maryland neighborhoods — showing up in communities, wearing masks, and instilling fear in families who have done nothing wrong.
That’s why my office has released new Know Your Rights resources to help Marylanders understand their legal protections. These guides explain what to do if approached by ICE, how to record enforcement actions safely, and where to find legal support.
We’ve also issued guidance to state and local law enforcement, reminding them that they are governed by Maryland law, not federal immigration directives. That means body cameras must stay on, identification must be clear, and no one can be detained without cause.
Our message is simple: Maryland’s laws protect all Marylanders. And my office will stand up to any administration that tries to trample on those protections.
If you believe in a Maryland where every person feels safe, will you contribute $10, $25, or whatever you can today to my reelection campaign to keep our work going?
Onward,
