At Last, Utahns Will Have Fair Maps

After years of litigation led by Campaign Legal Center, Utah voters finally will have a fair congressional map. Utahns have been fighting for fair representation since 2018, and throughout this protracted legal battle, every time Utah voters scored a victory in this fight, state lawmakers erected new hurdles in an attempt to maintain their ability to gerrymander the state’s congressional map — until now.

In a landmark victory for voters, Utah’s Third District Court ruled this week that the Utah Legislature’s recently proposed congressional map is a partisan gerrymander and ordered that a new fair map be implemented in time for the 2026 midterm elections.

The selected new map was proposed by the League of Women Voters of Utah, Mormon Women for Ethical Government and six individual Utah voters, represented by Campaign Legal Center. Thanks to the perseverance of our clients, Utahns will be able to vote in the 2026 midterms with the confidence that they have a genuine opportunity to elect members of Congress who best represent their interests.
