What it takes to help save New Jerseyans $467 each year

Electric bills have been rising, but Evergreen and NRDC have partnered to unveil a new report from Synapse Energy Economics that details the state policy playbook that can save the average New Jersey household $467 per year on electric bills.

Hi Friend,

Right now, soaring power demand from data centers is straining energy supplies and driving up our energy costs. On top of that, high utility profit margins and the Trump administration’s attacks on clean sources of energy are making this problem worse.

So it’s no surprise that Mikie Sherrill won the New Jersey governor’s race running on affordable, clean energy and a promise to tackle these problems head on.

In New Jersey, energy supply strain and demand growth have contributed to a whopping 17 to 20 percent jump in electric bills this past June.

If left unchecked, costs will continue to rise, making it harder for working families to get by.

In a new report just released with Synapse Energy Economics ([link removed]), we outline concrete steps that can be taken to help save the average New Jersey household $467 per year. With electric bills on track to rise sharply through the end of the decade, these savings can deliver tangible relief to families while laying the groundwork for lasting reform.

That’s why Evergreen is laser-focused on getting these policy recommendations in front of as many New Jersey decision-makers as possible in the coming weeks, especially as a new administration and newly elected legislature prepare to take office. Can we count on your support to help fuel that push? ([link removed])

POWER OUR WORK ([link removed])

The actions outlined in the report could lower monthly power bills for New Jersey residents by up to 12 percent—which adds up to $14.3 billion in total savings statewide by 2030.

The work our team did these past few months to release this playbook, and the work we’ll do to release more of them in the coming months, is fueled by your support.

If we want to continue to provide decision-makers with the playbooks that can lower energy costs and reduce dangerous climate pollution, we need your help to continue to fund this kind of in-depth policy research and analysis. Make a gift of any amount today. ([link removed])

Thanks for your continued engagement.
