** Dear John,
------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your lasting commitment to our community and to Valley of the Sun United Way.
This year marks a truly special milestone, our 100th year of impact, made possible by generous and compassionate leaders like you.
From our earliest days as the Community Chest, neighbors came together to care for one another through the most challenging times, from the Great Depression to the aftermath of World War I. Even then, our founders shared one belief: that when we unite, we can overcome anything.
That same spirit lives on today in you, and in every act of generosity that strengthens our community. As we celebrate a century of progress and look to meet the moment of today, we continue to partner with local organizations in education, housing and homelessness, health, and workforce development to ensure every child, every family, and every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
Because of you, our community is stronger, more connected, and more resilient. Our needs are local, and so is the impact you make. Together, we are honoring the past, shaping the future, and creating lasting change for all.
Thank you for making every gift count, and for being an essential part of this legacy of care and progress.
Here are a couple of examples of how your support has impacted our community.

** THIA
------------------------------------------------------------
After facing difficult life circumstances that led to a year of incarceration, Thia was determined to rebuild her life. She found hope through Valley of the Sun United Way’s partnership with St. Mary’s Food Bank and its Skills Center Program.
Thia was provided with job training, mentorship, and the encouragement she needed to believe in herself again. Through the program, she learned culinary techniques, workplace safety, and teamwork—skills that helped her secure a new job as a line cook at the Desert Botanical Garden.
Today, Thia is thriving in her new role and proud of the future she’s building.

** KAREN
------------------------------------------------------------
Karen, a single mother escaping 12 years of domestic abuse, had no phone, no money, and nowhere safe to go with her children. They were on the verge of homelessness. Thanks to your generosity, Valley of the Sun United Way supports local partners like UMOM New Day Centers. Valley of the Sun United Way was able to provide emergency shelter, case management, and long-term resources that helped move Karen and her family from crisis to stability.
Within six months, Karen secured a job, earned her CDL, and moved into a safe home with her children.

** JAZMYN
------------------------------------------------------------
As the eldest child in a financially struggling family, Jazmyn had always taken on adult responsibilities. Despite her leadership roles and strong academics, the path to college felt out of reach.
Thanks to your support, Valley of the Sun United Way helped Jazmyn complete FAFSA, apply for scholarships, and access the support she needed to thrive. She’s now attending university, majoring in communications, determined to give back to other students.
