Words alone can't describe what happened in Virginia last week, John.

On Tuesday, voters delivered a resounding rejection of Donald Trump's attacks on our climate and democracy — and they did it in the most decisive way possible.

Every single climate champion we endorsed in Virginia this year won their race. Not most of them. Not almost all of them. Every. Single. One. That's a total of 22 climate champions elected this year.

Democrats now hold their largest majority in the Virginia House of Delegates in three decades, soaring to at least 64 seats. That's a gain of 13 seats, including 9 Republican-held districts our JanePAC-endorsed candidates flipped on Tuesday night.

It was also a night of firsts. Our endorsed climate champion, Ghazala Hashmi, became Virginia's first Muslim woman elected to statewide office as Lieutenant Governor, while Democrats swept every statewide race and reclaimed full control of the executive branch.

And to top it all off: Virginia turned blue — everywhere. Republicans flooded the airwaves with attack ads targeting the most competitive districts in Virginia, Big Oil spent millions to protect their profits, and still, all but 5 of the state’s 95 counties shifted toward Democrats.

I’m incredibly proud of this movement and of the climate champions we’ve elected together. Because we’re not just fighting Republicans. We’re clearly fighting for better Democrats — the kind who have a backbone, who lead with courage, who do what’s right even when it’s not easy.
