Friend, last week in Chicago, armed ICE agents dragged a beloved teacher out of daycare, pinned her against a car, and arrested her in front of a group of children. This is unacceptable and should never have happened.

This horrifying incident is the result of the Trump administration ending a policy that for decades protected daycare centers and schools from ICE, replacing it with a cruel directive that empowers ICE to target these spaces.

The children who witnessed this violent arrest will experience lasting trauma, and other childcare workers are now forced to focus on the threat of ICE instead of teaching and caring for children. This cannot continue.

Some states have already begun fighting back — but we need more to join. Urge your state’s elected officials to strengthen policies and protocols for schools and daycare centers in your state, so these spaces are safe for children and educators. ([link removed])

No parent should have to choose between taking their child to school and keeping their family safe. No childcare worker should have to fear for their safety on the job. Every child deserves to live, learn, and thrive in a safe environment. Email your state legislators to demand protections for daycare centers and schools. ([link removed])
