Holding the GOP Senate Accountable
Hungry Americans have now been waiting for 59 days for additional food assistance from the federal government. In addition to our online National Hunger Clock ([link removed][UNIQID]) , we have launched billboard campaigns—such as the one featured above—in Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Kentucky, and Arizona that keep count of how long GOP Senators have held up crucial food aid by delaying a vote on the Heroes Act.

Here's how you can help:
1. Sign our petition. ([link removed][UNIQID])
2. Donate to help support our advocacy and other Covid-19 response work ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
3. Share your story about how delayed food aid has impacted hunger in your community ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
Pandemic-EBT for Families Kicks In
Pandemic-EBT ([link removed][UNIQID]) benefits are rolling out in New York State and across the country for families with children who receive free or reduced-price school meals. In some states, deadlines for applications have been extended. Contact the USDA National Hunger Hotline ([link removed][UNIQID]) to find out about P-EBT in your state.

In NYC, families with Medicaid are receiving benefits this month and families who do not receive SNAP or Medicaid can expect benefits to start arriving in August. We encourage all NYC families who are facing financial hardships to use their P-EBT funds and to contact our Hunger Free NYC ([link removed][UNIQID]) team with any questions.

Our 50 AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates are serving with partner organizations across the country to make sure food insecure families receive nutritious meals. During the month of June, they connected more than 6,220 individuals with meals and recruited 110 volunteers nationally.

#FUELHigherEd: College Hunger
Hunger Free America recently partnered with Challah for Hunger and We are Avodah for a virtual webinar ([link removed][UNIQID]) to discuss hunger on college campuses and how students can advocate for an end to college hunger. Expanding access to SNAP for college students is one of the most effective ways to alleviate hunger, but policies currently dictate that students have to work 20 hours a week just to qualify for SNAP benefits. Meanwhile, 39% of college students are food insecure. Learn more at the Campus Hunger Project ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
Ensuring a Complete Count
Our Community Organizing team recently partnered with New York Common Pantry to distribute food to more than 200 families at PS 170 in the Bronx. We also made sure to spread the word about the importance of filling out the 2020 Census ([link removed][UNIQID]) to ensure all neighborhoods in the borough receive the funding they deserve for the next 10 years.
Become a Hunger Volunteer!
We have a new volunteer opportunity ([link removed][UNIQID]) at St. Paul's Food Pantry in the Bronx. Volunteers will help pack grocery bags for food distribution to those in need. Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 25th from 9:30am- 12pm.
