A week ago, EMILYs List women won big in the Virginia House of Delegates, expanding our Democratic majority and reshaping what’s possible in the Commonwealth. That's what happens when we invest early and strategically in women running in state and local races.
Our majority in the House of Delegates was hanging on by a slim margin in 2024. But after Election Day 2025, Democrats shored up thirteen more seats, with all ten of our endorsed women flipping Republican-held districts.
State legislatures are becoming more and more critical in the fight to defend our democracy and our most essential rights and freedoms. These wins help safeguard Virginians against threats like voter suppression, abortion restrictions, and cuts to basic services. And the tough-as-nails women we elected will fight back against Trump's growing authoritarianism — whenever and wherever that extremism rears its head in the Commonwealth.
But these victories don't happen overnight. They happen because supporters like you step up early to make sure our women have the resources they need to win.
