Dear John –
Today I'm running for the State House.
You might already know me. I grew up in a working family in Bemidji, where struggle and sacrifice were part of life. With scholarships, I went to college and later earned a law degree at the University of Minnesota. For most of my adult life, I've served our community at the Capitol, including as Majority Leader, working to raise wages, expand opportunity, and deliver results for Minnesota families.
In the past couple of years, I've focused on raising a blended family of five kids with my wife Hannah and growing a small business. But I've also watched our politics grow more toxic while life gets harder for families — from housing and childcare costs to schools stretched thin. The challenges we face feel bigger than ever. More than ever, we need leaders who will stand strong in this moment. Not to divide us, but fight to rebuild the opportunities that make a good life possible for families across Minnesota, and let kids who grow up in trailer parks aspire to lead.
I'm launching my campaign today and here's what it's all about: shared prosperity. That means making sure every Minnesotan has a fighting chance — access to healthcare, affordable housing, quality childcare, meaningful work, and vibrant communities. It means backing workers and struggling families, encouraging businesses to grow locally, and holding powerful interests accountable so government works for the people.
If you believe in:
- Jobs that pay enough to build a life you're proud of
- Housing that families can actually afford
- Strong public schools that prepare every kid for the future
- Communities where families feel safe and neighbors look out for each other
- Childcare and paid leave so parents can work and thrive
- A politics that builds trust instead of stoking fear
…then we are on the same team.
We're launching today, and we need to set the tone right away. Will you be one of the first to help us get started?
