Fossil fuel allies in Congress are quietly pushing legislation that would undo Arctic protections. Stop this all-out attack on the Arctic.: [link removed]

Dear Friend,
New and aggressive drilling in the Arctic would cause irreparable harm to wildlife, birds, fish, and people who depend on this habitat, along with the broader destruction to Alaska and the planet from the burning of fossil fuels.
But instead of extending protections for this vast and vital ecosystem, the Trump administration and its fossil fuel allies in Congress are making moves to sell-off vast tracts of public lands, including the coastal plain of the Arctic Refuge that has never seen industrialization, and open the doors wide for fossil fuel drilling.
Even during the government shutdown, the Senate prioritized rolling back Arctic protections for polluting industries. Once the shutdown ends, we expect Congress to try to push these rollbacks through fast.
We need your voice to defend the Arctic. Tell your members of Congress: our public lands belong to us, not fossil fuel companies.
These critical public lands protections were put in place after years of scientific input, Indigenous knowledge, and robust public engagement. We know what is at stake. Alaska’s Arctic is warming 3-5 times faster than the rest of the planet and expanded drilling will only make it worse. The consequences of rising temperatures in this region are far-reaching: Problems like permafrost thaw, rising sea levels, the loss of sea ice, and coastal erosion are harming Alaska communities and accelerating the climate crisis.
Earthjustice has spent decades fighting in court to keep oil and gas interests from tearing up the Arctic, for the sake of the wildlife that can’t live elsewhere, Indigenous communities that rely on these lands for their continued existence and ways of life , and an entire planet that can’t afford more climate pollution. We are ready to fight again – and we need you to be part of that fight in Congress.
Protecting the Arctic is something that people across this country support, and we need constituents like you to remind your members of Congress how important this issue is to you. We have no time to waste. Write to Congress now and tell them to stop any attempt to open the Arctic to oil and gas drilling.
Sincerely,
Laura Esquivel
