Trump rages about "stupid" Republicans falling into Democrats' Epstein "trap"

Nothing screams "I'm innocent!" like raging against "stupid" members of your own party for daring to do the bare minimum on behalf of child sex-trafficking victims. Either Donald's neck-deep in shit with his late pedophile pal OR he gives absolutely ZERO fucks about justice and accountability for the many, many victims of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and their very, very important friends in high places. Four Republicans ― Lauren Boebert, Nancy Mace, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Thomas Massie ― sided with Democrats to force a House vote on releasing the Justice Department’s full trove of Epstein files — an order Trump repeatedly promised on the campaign trail that HE would issue once he returned to power before abruptly pulling a 180. Gee, wonder what might've changed his mind?

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump dealt more bad news from top Democrat

Brian Tyler Cohen spoke with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker about the long-term folly of Republicans' brazen plot to steal congressional seats across the country — all in service of protecting their wannabe dictator from true accountability from a co-equal branch of government. Perhaps even more troubling for the MAGA cult leader, Pritzker predicted that potentially devastating congressional investigations are already inevitable following the latest dump of explosive Epstein files implicating the president.

Arkansas farmer takes on pro-hunger Republican Senator

Hallie Shoffner for Senate: Millions of Americans are going hungry without their SNAP benefits, and Senator Tom Cotton thinks they should STAY hungry. He’s voted against the Farm Bill - legislation that helps fight hunger in the U.S. - twice because he doesn’t care about feeding people. As a farmer, Hallie Shoffner cares very deeply about feeding people, and she knows the hard way what it means to have to fight like hell for everything you have and STILL get hammered by an economy that’s rigged against you — a system rigged by people like Tom Cotton. As senator, she'll fight that rigged system every day. Will you chip in to help kickstart the motor on her campaign and kick one of the worst of the worst Republicans out of the Senate for good?

Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva finally sworn in to Congress 7 weeks after being elected
It only took FIFTY FUCKING DAYS, but Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson officially ran out of excuses yesterday for denying 800,000 Arizonans congressional representation and swore in Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva to the seat she won by 39 percentage points nearly two months ago. Johnson's logic for denying Grijalva was shiftier than his beady eyes, but even in Congress all con jobs eventually come to an end. Grijalva, who crucially became the chamber's 218th and deciding vote on a petition to release the infamous Epstein files, did not hold back in her remarks following her swearing in: "It has been 50 days since the people of Arizona’s 7th Congressional District elected me to represent them. Fifty days that over 800,000 Arizonans have been left without access to the basic services that every constituent deserves. This is an abuse of power. One individual should not be able to unilaterally obstruct the swearing in of a duly-elected member of Congress for political reasons." Hear, hear. Can we censure the speaker? Asking for 800,000 friends in Arizona AND the countless victims of Jeffrey Epstein who've been denied justice for far too long.

Take Action: Tell NBC to stand with Seth Meyers and don't let Trump kill free speech!

Trump refuses to take questions as reporter asks, "Can you respond to these Epstein emails?"
Well, well, well. If it isn't Mr. But Her Emails suddenly changing his tune and going mute on — of all things — emails. Funny how that works.

Trump press secretary Karoline Leavitt in full denial mode over Epstein

It must be a heavy cross to bear — particularly for a literal cross bearer like Karoline Leavitt — to stand before the American people and just lie through your teeth every damn day. Even for a professional spinster like Leavitt, this week has undoubtedly been challenging. In the wake of the latest Epstein files dump, which implicates Donald Trump even more than was previously known, the MAGA cult leader's minister of doublespeak bravely stood before White House pool reporters and declared with alarmingly dubious logic: "These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong." Wait, what? Which is it, Karoline? Do they prove "absolutely nothing" or do they definitively absolve your boss? Not content with the depth of the hole she was digging, Leavitt kept drilling: "This administration has done more with respect to transparency when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein than any administration ever." Folks, have you ever jumped in a pool and been told you weren't wet? Kinda feels like that's where we're heading...

World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds
Things aren't just metaphorically on fire and under water at the same time, friends. Despite plenty of posturing and grandstanding from world leaders, the planet is still on track for a catastrophic 2.6C increase in temperature. According to two major reports, emissions from fossil fuels have hit a record high, even with the rollout of extensive renewable energy projects across the world. This level of heating easily breaches the thresholds set out in the Paris climate pact in 2015 — which every industrialized country agreed to — and would set the world spiralling into a catastrophic new era of extreme weather and severe hardships. If we can manage to keep democracy from falling apart in our own backyard, we'd be wise to cast our eyes on the horizon and do a little more long-term planning. Despite conspiratorial ravings from anti-science Republicans claiming otherwise, climate is apolitical, and extreme weather is an equal-opportunity agent of chaos.

Chris Murphy goes off on Democrats at New Hampshire town hall
During at a town hall appearance in New Hampshire on Wednesday, New Jersey Senator Chris Murphy unloaded on his own party, castigating his colleagues for caving in the government shutdown fight. Democrats clearly had strong winds in their sails following last week's decisive electoral rebuke of Donald Trump and his Republican enablers, making the timing of their capitulation that much tougher to stomach. "Our job right now is to fight," Murphy declared at the event hosted by the New Hampshire Institute of Politics. "We have to show people who [Republicans] are and who we are, and it does involve a level of fight and sometimes a level of confrontation that can be uncomfortable." Murphy also pointed out that Democrats consistently hurt themselves by relying on overwrought, consultant-driven messaging — a criticism a LOT of shot-callers in the party clearly need to hear several hundred more times before the midterms next year. Democrats MUST speak plainly, from the heart, and with conviction. There is no winning alternative, and we cannot afford to lose.

Trump’s approval tanks after Gatsby-themed party during shutdown
Lord Goldemort's Gatsby-themed Halloween fête at Mar-a-Lago — complete with the incredibly tone-deaf slogan "A little party never killed nobody" — has clearly not sat well with the general public, with a lot of folks wondering why the MAGA cult leader would throw a hedonistic party dripping with excessive displays of obscene wealth the very same weekend he cut off SNAP benefits to 42 million vulnerable Americans. Sure, a garish soirée might not kill ya, but it sure will do a number on your approval ratings.

Megyn Kelly questions whether Jeffrey Epstein's desire for "very young teen types" made him a pedophile
Nice, Megyn. Why don't you run your appalling hot take by Jeffrey Epstein's deeply traumatized victims and their families and get back to us. Republicans have now reached "there are degrees of pedophilia, m'kay?" levels of dillusion in their ongoing quest to insulate and explain away Donald Trump's deeply disturbing connection to the late pedophile's child sex-trafficking operation.
