John,
When I successfully filed the motion to subpoena the Epstein files back in July, I knew it would shake powerful people. What I didn’t know was how far they’d go to keep the truth hidden.
Now we know. The files are being released — slowly, painfully — and the names inside tell a story of corruption and power that’s been protected for decades. Presidents. Prime ministers. CEOs. And yes — Donald Trump.
Trump’s name shows up in the birthday book and now in Epstein’s emails. And just before the final signature came in on the discharge petition to release the files, right before Rep. Adelita Grijalva was sworn in yesterday, Trump went into panic mode. He started calling members of Congress like Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace, begging them to take their names off the petition that would finally force the release of these files.
It was a last-ditch effort to keep the truth buried. His final attempt to make sure the American people never see what’s inside.
But we have to ask ourselves: why would someone who claims they are innocent go to these lengths to hide the files?
This fight didn’t start last week — it started when I stood up in the Oversight Committee and said the DOJ must hand over the Epstein files, unredacted. That motion passed. It became a subpoena. It’s legally binding. And yet the DOJ still refuses to comply. Every day they delay is another day justice is denied to survivors.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: these women are some of the bravest people I’ve ever met. They faced down the most powerful men on the planet. They’re doing it again now. And I will not let them fight alone.
The truth is coming out and the obstruction is crumbling. But the pressure from Trump’s MAGA machine is real. They’re calling. Threatening. Intimidating. And they’re counting on Democrats to back down.
But y’all know me and I will NEVER back down.
This is about whether we still live in a country where the rich and powerful can bury their crimes while survivors are silenced. It’s about whether justice belongs to all of us, or just the few at the top.
I won’t stop until the full truth is uncovered and every last person who enabled Epstein’s crimes is held accountable.
Thank you for standing with me,
– Summer Lee
