Team, last week, we made history in Virginia β and the future looks female.
Not only did voters elect our first-ever woman governor and the first-ever Muslim woman as lieutenant governor, but 10 of the 13 flipped House seats were won by women, bringing the number of women in the House Democratic caucus from 27 to 37.
That means nearly 60% of House Democrats are women, the largest number ever in Virginia history.
The current standings in the House of Delegates are 64-35β¦ which means there are more women in the House Democratic caucus than there are Republicans. Howβs that for HERSTORY?
However, this is not just about unseating Republicans and electing women. Itβs proof that Virginians want leaders who will fight for policies that put them and their families first, including protecting our reproductive freedoms and access to abortion.
With these major wins, we have our sights on 2026, where we are a step closer to the Reproductive Freedom Amendment being on the ballot. With our Democratic majority, we have a real opportunity to enshrine our rights in the state constitution once and for all.
