Our Festive Events Campaign has just launched and we have already had a brilliant response from you, our wonderful supporters!

We know how much you care about reindeer, and so we want to draw your attention to an important action that we now need your help with.

Middlesbrough Council are running a parade this Christmas season on 22nd November, and despite efforts from our friends at North East Animal Rights, the council has decided to push forward with using live reindeer for the event.

Along with North East Animal Rights (NEAR), Freedom for Animals has informed the council of the ethical and welfare issues associated with using reindeer in these kinds of events, and how much these sensitive animals suffer when carted to unnatural, busy environments surrounded by noisy crowds.

At first, the council had a very respectful and positive conversation with NEAR, which led to them providing assurances that the live reindeer would be withdrawn from the event, as they agreed with the above concerns. However, they have since overturned that ethical decision and reinstated their cruel involvement in the parade.

The fact the council have chosen to take no action and carry on with their plans - exposing these sensitive, gentle beings to a loud and scary environment - all in the name of 'Christmas spirit' and family 'fun' is unacceptable.

That is why we now need your help - and your voice - to fight for these reindeer.

Contact Middlesbrough Council urging them to leave live reindeer out of their Christmas Parade.
