‌‌‌‌‌Finally, after 43 days, the House voted to reopen the government.

I’m relieved for the 27,000 federal workers I represent in Congress, many of whom were furloughed or worked without pay. (And I will work to ensure you receive every cent you are owed!)

But I’m angry, and I bet you are too. None of this needed to happen.

• Republicans control the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the White House. They had been aware of the approaching deadline for a deal to fund the government for a long time. After missing the deadline and allowing the government to close, they went on paid vacations and refused to come to the negotiating table.

• Speaker Johnson refused to call the House back to work – I guess that move is reserved for tax breaks for billionaires.

• For two months, he refused to seat a duly represented congresswoman, Adelita Grijalva, seemingly to protect the reputation of a dead pedophile.

• While my neighbors worked without pay, Trump worked on his ballroom.

• And months after Congress made tax credits for billionaires permanent, they couldn’t do the same to help working families afford health insurance.

There is no reason we couldn't reopen the government AND lower health care costs. Now we face a health care crisis that Republicans ignored and are now fueling.

John, I’ve had enough of a government run by bullies for the benefit of billionaires. That’s why we’re building a grassroots team to win in Washington and our adopted swing district.

Can you contribute $10 now to fuel our organizing to take back the House, so we can elect new leaders who actually give a s**t about us? [[link removed]]

If you’re just getting back on your feet after the shutdown and can’t donate today, don’t worry, there will be more opportunities to help win big in 2026.

Thank you so much 💙
