Trump is completely out of ideas, so now he’s attacking me for knowing what it says in the Constitution. Really!

Well, since Trump doesn’t seem to understand, here are some of the ways he has violated the Constitution since January:

• He illegally slashed funding for lifesaving programs and defunded entire federal agencies without Congressional approval
• He has blatantly ignored federal court orders in complete disregard for the separation of powers
• He allowed ICE to suspend the Fifth Amendment right of due process and deport people without trial
• He violated the First Amendment by detaining college students for exercising free speech and criticizing Israel
• He trampled on the freedom of the press by using the power of his government to punish news outlets and journalists who disagreed with him
• He bombs other countries and wages war without Congressional approval in violation of the War Powers Clause
• He uses fake “emergencies” to federalize the National Guard and occupy American cities
• He constantly threatens to deport me despite being a US citizen

Friend, Trump’s presidency is one long Constitutional crisis. And the Republican Party that controls both Congress and the Supreme Court has happily allowed him to grow his power and act like a dictator.

But look, last week’s elections proved that Trump is now weaker than ever. Working-class voters have turned on him. He is a failure. We have an opportunity in the upcoming midterms to take back control of Congress and pull the emergency brake on this dumpster fire of a presidency.

That starts with winning our race here in Minnesota’s 5th and sending our progressive movement back to Washington to hold Trump accountable.
