John,
Tonight, the House will vote on the Senate-passed bill to reopen the government and end the shutdown.
I joined CBS to sound the alarm about why I’m a hard no on this vote.

The so-called Senate deal does nothing to address the looming healthcare crisis in this country. It’s incredibly disappointing.
Premiums are poised to triple or even quadruple, and instead of continuing to hold Republicans accountable to answer for it, this bill delays a vote on the ACA and is a far cry from even a guarantee that Speaker Johnson will allow a vote.
The millions of Americans who are struggling with rising costs deserve better. I’ve spoken to retirees, working families, veterans, and many more across the district that will be forced to make impossible decisions to stay afloat.
I’m proud that House Democrats are standing united against this bill, and it’s unfortunate that Senate leadership did not meet this moment and do the same.
Thank you,
Mike
