The senate has officially voted to reopen the government and is sending their resolution to the house — but they did it without protecting the very people who keep this country running.

Their deal fails to extend Affordable Care Act assistance, which millions of families rely on to afford health insurance and get the critical medical care they need. Instead, it hangs on a vague agreement to vote on ACA assistance before the end of the year.

That’s not leadership — that’s leaving 20 million Americans at risk of losing their health insurance next year.

This didn’t happen by accident. Eight senate Democrats caved to Republican pressure, choosing to hand Trump and his extremist allies a win instead of fighting for working families. This is a failure of leadership, and that is why I have said it before and I will say it again – Chuck Schumer must resign.

Healthcare is in crisis. Families are hanging on by a thread. People are choosing between their prescriptions and their rent. So when this bill comes to the House this week, I’ll be voting NO.
