The Governor's Annual Turkey Pardon
On Monday, November 10th, with the power vested in me through the Colorado constitution, I pardoned Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, two Colorado-raised turkeys from

Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary . I was joined by First Gentleman Marlon Reis, Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg, as well as FFA Colorado State Officers, 4-H Members, and Gold Star families in honor of Veterans Day.
In Colorado, we value freedom, almost as much as these birds do. Thanksgiving brings together family, friends, and loved ones over delicious food, reminding us to be thankful for what we have and give back to our communities. From pumpkins, to meat, potatoes, and breads, local farmers and ranchers work year round to keep delicious and healthy food on our tables during the holiday season and every day. As we gather at our tables I encourage Coloradans to reflect on what we are grateful for and find ways to give back to our community, including supporting our local food banks and pantries.
The two turkeys came from Jodar Farms in Fort Collins, which is known for providing quality products to some of the best restaurants in Fort Collins.

Jodar Farms provided one of the turkeys pardoned in 2024, Fred. Following the pardon, the two turkeys were transported to Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary where they will live out their lives among other rescued animals. The two turkeys were named after a vote of Coloradans on

Thanksgiving Food Drive at the State Capitol
The event also served as a food drive to support Colorado families facing threats to food access ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The food drive, hosted by the Governor’s Office, will run from November 10-14. Anyone interested in donating and supporting others can bring food to the Governor’s Office at the State Capitol. This is especially important as the federal government withholds critical food access for Coloradans, over half of whom are children. Food donated will be given to the

🍴The Dinner Table
Youth on Record (YOR) is turning its attention from the stage to the dinner table. In response to the withholding of SNAP food access due to the federal government shutdown, and the rising costs of feeding families, the Denver-based arts and youth development nonprofit is launching

🍴Servicios de la Raza: "I Got Your Six" Fundraising Campaign
We can feed a neighbor losing their SNAP benefits for $6/day. Please consider

chipping in $6 to help feed Coloradans in need for a day.
Servicios is one of the only food pantries in Colorado that specializes in distributing healthy food items that center on culture. The organization has seen lines down the block day-after-day, and unfortunately ran out of food last week during a mobile food event and had to turn away community members. There was just too much need and not enough food.
🍴Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado
Due to the government shutdown, more than 620,000 neighbors in Southern Colorado who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will not receive food access for November. (183,000 in Care and Share’s service area.) As a result, these neighbors will not be able to purchase the groceries they need to provide food for their families. Please consider

making an emergency donation today to help fill the gap for our neighbors to get access to the food they need.
