Indivisibles,
Remember this?
[ [link removed] ][IMG]
We sure do. 62 days ago, Indivisibles in Arizona, Texas, and Florida came
together to tell their governors that re-opening before they were ready
was dangerous. Yet, all three of these states are reporting some of the
highest numbers of COVID-19 cases and deaths today. And it’s no
coincidence that this happened. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, Texas
Governor Greg Abbott, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ignored their
constituents’ warnings and they proceeded to rush re-opening and refused
to enforce safety measures.
It should have never gotten this bad. Florida is breaking records with a
staggering 15,000+ new cases -- the highest number of new cases in a
single day by any state since the pandemic started. Florida isn’t the only
state that’s been hit, [ [link removed] ]Johns Hopkins reports that at least 33 states
are seeing higher rates of new cases since last week. As we see states
rolling back their plans to reopen, we can’t help but feel like we’re back
to square one (or worse).
We’re living through a national tragedy. As a country, a lot of healing
will have to be done to ever recover from this. But even as people
continue to lose their lives and loved ones, Trump is spending his time
[ [link removed] ]withdrawing from the World Health Organization and [ [link removed] ]discrediting Dr.
Anthony Fauci, all while [ [link removed] ]finding time to defend how much time he spends
playing golf. The list of grievances goes on…
But it’s not just Trump. Our leaders in Congress have yet to meet this
moment with the care and urgency it deserves (and we’re not just talking
about Ted Cruz refusing to wear a mask on a commercial flight). The Senate
has yet to move forward with the Heroes Act even though it passed the
House back in May, and we only have a small window for action. The Senate
returns from recess this coming Monday, July 20 before leaving again for
August recess. The Heroes Act will save countless lives and ensure working
families are able to weather this recession, but Senate Republicans are
refusing to act. In response, we won’t follow the Senate’s lead and just
look the other way.
Despite living through a pandemic and [ [link removed] ]collectively fighting for Black
lives in one of the largest movements in U.S. history -- we’re still here.
And we’re still channeling all of the energy that we’ve got into these
ongoing fights. With that, here are our weekly to-dos:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your 5 weekly to-dos
1. Join essential workers on social media for a National Digital Day of
Action on July 15 to hold Congress accountable for passing the Heroes
Act. Get creative on Wednesday by recording a quick selfie video about
why we need the Heroes Act and post it on your preferred social media
channels. Don’t forget to tag your Senator’s official Twitter handles
and use the hashtag #DoYourJob. Follow along with us at
[ [link removed] ]@IndivisibleTeam as we share and uplift your posts on Wednesday.
2. After you post your video, make sure to [ [link removed] ]call your Senators to
demand they pass the Heroes Act without watering it down. Working
families are struggling to make ends meet and we need every protection
in the Heroes Act to pass or lives will be at stake.
3. [ [link removed] ]Call your local officials to express your support to defund the
police and invest in Black communities. So many of you joined the
fight to support and protect people of color from state sanctioned
violence, but the truth is a lot of that work has to happen locally,
in your town and cities. Call your local officials and demand that
they defund the police and invest those funds in resources. If you
need more context, check out our latest video where we explain exactly
what we mean by [ [link removed] ]#DefundThePolice.
4. [ [link removed] ]Join the DFAD #DemocracyOpenMic to inspire our elected leaders to
act now to protect our elections. While COVID-19 cases continue to
rise in states across the country, too many states lack the resources
to ensure safe and accessible voting this fall. The disastrous primary
elections in Wisconsin and Georgia demonstrate the urgent need for
Congress to act now to #ProtectOurVote. [ [link removed] ]That’s why we’re calling
on activists, artists, and creators across the country to make your
voice heard by participating in a Democracy Open Mic. Record a video,
create a protest sign, design a graphic and more, the possibilities
are endless!
5. [ [link removed] ]Join our 2020 Electoral Bootcamp to win back the Senate and White
House, and keep the House. On August 8th, we’re holding a day long
virtual conference to teach you the in’s and out’s of Indivisible’s
general election strategy. Come learn of the different ways to take
action: from phone banking, to text banking, to countering online
disinformation -- these are all the tactics we need to win!

2020 Update
* [ [link removed] ]Last week, the Biden Sanders Unity Taskforce unveiled their policy
recommendations for the official Democratic party platform. The
document is 110 pages long and covers policy issues from healthcare to
immigration to the environment.
* The Unity Taskforce is only one way Biden is calling on us to unify as
a country in the face of tragedy. In case you missed it, [ [link removed] ]make sure
to watch our video from the 4th of July to reflect on the pain we’ve
suffered as a nation and how we should start to heal.

* Finally, we’re just over 100 days out from the general election and we
want to hear from YOU about why you’re in this fight and what you’re
doing to help us beat Trump on November 3rd. [ [link removed] ]Record or upload a
video with your story here.

Support the Movement
We’re in the habit of trusting in the rule of law and peaceful transfer of
power in the US, but even that isn’t guaranteed: Trump himself has hinted
at staying in office past 2024, and he’s been systematically undermining
the public trust in election processes since he entered office. This is a
nightmare scenario, and we have to start preparing for it now. Luckily,
that’s just what we’re doing with Protect the Results -- a joint project
with our partner Stand Up America to make sure Trump and everyone else
respects the results of November’s election. We’re budgeting over $1.2
million if we need to do that work, and we need your help: [ [link removed] ]can you
donate $10 to protect the results and fund all our work?

IndivisiWin of the Week
[ [link removed] ][IMG]
For this week’s IndivisiWin, we wanted to show off the volunteers from
Mom’s Demand Action who were at the virtual town hall held by an
Indivisible group in Texas. John Cornyn, Senator from Texas and blatant
Trump enabler, is one of the Senators we’re getting ready to defeat come
November. Events like these are happening around the country until
November -- the fight is on!
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
