John — it’s the same old story, over and over again. When North Carolina Republicans see the slightest possibility of further entrenching GOP power in our state, they seize it. They do this despite the fact that their actions are infringing upon the rights of voters. They do this at the expense of our democracy itself. And they’re doing it right in front of us. Last month, Donald Trump demanded that GOP lawmakers secure more seats in Congress for Republicans through early redistricting. Legislators here in NC were ready to oblige. Their blatant racial gerrymander will strip Black communities of their voting power and give Republicans even more of an unfair advantage in elections to come. And now, we can’t count on the Court system to defend our voting rights. John, our state deserves fair representation, and we have to speak out.
