John, we have a critical update about our ballot initiative here in Montana.
In case you missed it: the Montana Attorney General deemed our ballot initiative language “legally insufficient,” and we submitted our appeal to the Supreme Court of Montana to overturn that decision.
We’ve now received word that The Supreme Court of Montana has ordered the Montana Attorney General to respond to our appeal no later than Monday, November 17th.
We understand that our initiative is politically inconvenient for those who want to uphold the status quo.
We also knew that those who benefit from a broken system would throw anything they could at our solution to try to stop our momentum — especially when new polling shows 74% of Montanans (Democrats, Republicans, and independents) support our ballot initiative as we wrote it.
That doesn’t mean the Attorney General gets to slap us down for political reasons.
We feel confident that we’ll win this appeal, and the next step will be collecting signatures to qualify for the ballot. Your donation today will make sure we wrap up this legal process quickly and immediately pivot to launching our ballot signature campaign.
It’s up to us to protect our democracy, and we’re not waiting on the sidelines. Join us by chipping in to our legal fund today:
