Trumpism will only be defeated when we elect leaders who are not only prepared to fight for a progressive agenda, but who have the courage to stand up to Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Sisters and Brothers -

Earlier this week I voted NO on a terrible Continuing Resolution bill that will raise premiums for 20 million Americans and kick 15 million more off their health care in exchange for a vote in December that everyone knows will never become law.

But the collapse of Senate Democrats was not only a disaster for healthcare in America, it was a major setback in the fight against Trump moving this country toward an authoritarian society. Trump knew, from the very beginning of the shutdown, that if he and his Republican pals held firm, the Democrats, sooner or later, would cave. And, of course, he was right.

Trump may be mentally unstable and he may be a pathological liar — but he’s not stupid. In his drive to secure more and more power for himself, he is attempting to break all opposition. He has gone after his political opponents, the media, the courts, our election system, law firms, and universities. This week, he secured a major victory in neutering the opposition party.

It is no secret that the Democratic Party in this country is very weak and unable to generate significant grassroots enthusiasm almost anywhere in America. If we waited on the Democratic Party and DC politicians to defeat Trumpism, we'd be waiting forever.

Trumpism will only be defeated by millions of Americans, in every state in this country, coming together in a strong, grassroots movement which says NO to oligarchy, NO to authoritarianism, NO to kleptocracy, NO to massive cuts in programs that working people desperately need, NO to huge tax breaks for the richest people in our country.

And Trumpism will only be defeated when we elect leaders who are not only prepared to fight for a progressive agenda, but who have the courage to stand up to Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Today, I am asking you to support three people who will do just that.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed is running an excellent campaign in Michigan — focusing on such issues as Medicare for All and the need to stop Netanyahu’s barbaric war in Gaza.

Graham Platner in Maine, a veteran and a working class candidate, is drawing large crowds throughout the state as he opposes billionaire control of our government and the need to end status-quo, corporately dominated politics.

Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota, the daughter of a hard-working single mom and an organizer who’s spent her career, from her time on the Minneapolis School Board to her time as Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota, fighting for progressive policies that help working people.

The good news is, we have a chance to greatly transform the Democratic caucus this cycle by electing these three candidates who you will be able to count on in the Senate.

The bad news is, they are taking on not just the Republican establishment, but the Democratic establishment as well and they need our help.

So I am... once again... asking for your financial support.

Please split a $27 contribution — or whatever you can afford between Peggy Flanagan's campaign for Senate in Minnesota, Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, and Graham Platner in Maine. They can win their races if we rally behind them today.
