The Parks & Open Spaces Service is looking for a Greenspace Development Officer to join the team until 31st May 2021.? Working on projects to seek funding, develop projects and deliver improvements to parks and open spaces and manage the City's allotments, this is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced team with an excellent track record.? As the Country's highest Green Flag Award winner with a big improvement programme, numerous community group partnerships and extensive allotment network, we are looking for an enthusiastic team player with experience and skills from the green space sector.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:?

  • Knowledge and experience of managing and delivering projects in a greenspace environment including managing contractors.
  • Well developed knowledge and understanding of park, open space and allotment management issues such as maintenance, security and health and safety requirements.
  • Well developed experience and knowledge of Green Flag and other environmental legislation and regulations appropriate to the management and development of?greenspace.
  • Ability to evaluate numerical and literary information and write reports for a range of audiences.
  • Ability to communicate with both staff and the public, in person, in writing and by phone, including the ability to give presentations.
  • Experience of working on own initiative in order to meet strict deadlines and objectives.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:?

  • Experience of working within a maintenance background.? Working with playgrounds would be advantageous, but not required.
  • Experience of working outside, in a safe manner, ensuring that all health and safety legislation?is followed.?
  • Experience of maintaining and keeping equipment (play equipment would be advantageous) in good working order in line with Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Ability to use a mobile phone / tablet based system to undertake weekly site inspections.
  • Ability to undertake general maintenance operations such as carpentry, painting and metal work including the use of power tools.

We are looking for someone?to develop and drive forward an ambitious careers strategy for Nottingham City that ensures local citizens have the knowledge, skills, experience and access to opportunities to gain sustainable employment within the local labour market. The Careers Strategy Officer will lead work to deliver on Council Plan commitments to ensure all young people have access to work experience, as well as promoting the work of the D2N2 Enterprise Adviser Network in Nottingham City.
