John Hickenlooper here. I hate sending emails asking you for money. Believe me - I’d much rather be talking to you in person about the work I’m doing, ideally over coffee or a fresh Colorado beer.

But the reality is these messages are non-negotiable for my campaign (and trust me, I’ve all-but begged my finance team for other options). Let me explain:

I’ve never taken money from corporate PACs or dark money special interests. I’m in the Senate to serve you and your family, not corporations who might want to cut a check for political favors.

But that means our campaign is powered by committed supporters like you generously giving whatever they can, whenever they can – even if it’s $1, $5, or $10 at a time. And most of those grassroots contributions come from emails exactly like this one.

So even though I wish we had a better option, here goes: can you please donate $5 to help us keep Colorado blue? I’m one of the only first-term Democrats in the Senate up for re-election next year, and I can’t win without you.
