So many of the animals we care for have survived cruelty, neglect or disaster — facing unspeakable sadness, not knowing when their next meal will be, and wondering if relief will ever come.

For animals like these, a meal after rescue may be the first meal they’ve had in a long time. It can be their first step to healing — a special moment when they feel loved and cared for. And in my work at the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center, I see firsthand that every meal truly counts for hungry animals.

This year was a difficult one for many, and across the ASPCA, we saw hundreds of animals come to us in need of care. The need for support is greater than ever, so we are setting our most ambitious Holiday Food Drive goal: 100,000 meals before Thanksgiving for hungry animals who have experienced unimaginable cruelty. Across the country, there are animals still waiting to be rescued and cared for. All they want is a full belly...a loving home...a second chance. These dogs, cats and other animals know what it’s like to go without food, water and shelter, and they are relying on immediate action and compassionate donors like you to make it through this holiday season.
