It’s no secret that Alaska contains a wealth of natural resources, yet development in the state has long been stymied by federal permitting hurdles. Despite this legacy of bureaucratic barriers, Alaska remains a national model for responsible resource development and environmental stewardship.
The state’s abundant energy reserves have the potential to power economic growth and advance national security. It is encouraging to see the Trump Administration and Alaska’s congressional delegation united in their commitment to advance energy prosperity in the state. After all, Alaskans have always been the best stewards of their land and resources.
During the conversation, Congressman Begich encouraged the audience to think beyond currency and reconsider how we define the value of America’s natural resources. He noted that it’s not the dollar that makes the nation wealthy, but our ability to responsibly harness domestic resources. He also discussed the role of a diverse national energy portfolio in future permitting legislation.
Burton highlighted Senator Sullivan and the Trump Administration’s leadership in advancing progress on the Alaska LNG project and broader permitting reform efforts.
Finally, Judy Brown discussed her work at South32, emphasizing the need to reinvest in domestic critical mineral production and cement America’s leadership in the global energy race.
