Hi there, Happy Veterans Day!
Today, we pause to honor the veterans who have served in uniform, and the families who have stood beside them.
Across our state of neighbors, I’ve had the chance to meet with veterans who continue to serve their communities long after their military service — in our schools, hospitals, and local organizations. Their deep commitment to community reminds us what service truly means.
And right now, our veterans need us to have their backs perhaps more than ever before.
The VA was understaffed before Trump fired thousands of workers, including those at crisis and suicide prevention hotlines. The Republican shutdown closed local VA offices and stalled employment and education services. Republican politicians voted to gut food assistance and health care for veterans and their families. And MAGA’s obsession with culture wars has politicized veterans’ health care and jeopardized life-saving care.
Our veterans deserve better. They deserve health care, housing, opportunity, and leaders who will fight for them.
I was proud that the first bill I passed helped veterans and other underserved entrepreneurs trying to start a small business. I’ll continue to champion the freedoms our veterans have fought to protect in Congress. I’ll keep pushing to ensure veterans have access to the care and services they need — and I’ll always fight for the benefits they’ve earned, including for Delaware’s VA hospital.
To every veteran reading this: Thank you. Your service matters — and so does your future. I will continue to fight for you.
