The last four years, it was one frustration after another. On a state level, we would pass good laws- like Voter ID and proof of citizenship- and the Governor would veto them or the courts would ensure a long battle lasting years.
Yeah, we won our share- but not having a partner at the Federal level was an issue.
Following reports of irregularities in California and other states, Trump issued this order.
You see what is happening here?
He is issuing an executive order for Voter ID, proof of citizenship, same day voting. Some states will adhere, others will ignore.
He knows these issues are strongest in the courts when Congress passes laws for them.
He is setting it up for the Senate to partially erase the filibuster and allow good election integrity laws through.
Now, we have our own experience with scoundrels in office- like Adrian Fontes or Gob. Hobbs.
But we also have battle scars from hundreds of court fights over the laws we passed!
I am thrilled that the Feds- under Trump- are looking at passing laws to enshrine nationally what we have done in Arizona. It will make our jobs SO much easier- and we are up for this fight.
