Friend,

Today we honor all of our veterans for their patriotism, service, and sacrifice. Veterans Day is an important observance nationally - and an incredibly important one here in Frederick County.

Over the past several days, I joined people across our community in paying tribute to those who served our country.

This morning, I joined the members of the American Legion Francis Scott Key Post #11 at their annual Veterans Day Program.  Congratulations to George Smith III on receiving the Legionnaire of the Year Award.

On Sunday, I participated in the 93rd Annual Veterans Day in Brunswick, where it was a true honor to hear the national anthem sung by 102-year-old WWII veteran Jack Myers.

Last Friday, I had a meaningful morning at Oakdale High School, where veterans highlighted the importance of building trust and relationships, especially while serving overseas. I also had the privilege of speaking with a Vietnam veteran who dedicated over 30 years of his life after the military to civil service and volunteering to support other veterans.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my deep and sincere thanks to everyone who served our country in uniform for your commitment and sacrifice. On behalf of a grateful community, thank you for your service.

Sincerely,

Jessica Fitzwater
