I know just how disappointed you’re feeling right now. I’m feeling the exact same way.

This “deal” that the Senate reached to end the government shutdown… isn’t a deal at all. It does nothing to address the skyrocketing cost of health care. It does nothing to bring down the cost of living. It does nothing to help working class families here in Colorado.

As Democrats, what did we get out of this? A pinky promise from Republican leadership to hold a vote? Not a promise to actually extend those Affordable Care Act subsidies. Just a promise to… eventually vote them down next month.

You know — I’ve believed for a long time that Democrats need new blood and fresh voices in Washington. And this “deal” spells out exactly why I hold that belief.

I can’t help but think about all the families — and all the kids — who are going to be hurt if this Senate bill makes its way to Trump’s desk without addressing our health care crisis. 225,000 Coloradans will see their health insurance premiums double on average. Another 75,000 will lose access to health care altogether. In exchange for what? Not a thing.

That’s why I’m voting NO on this legislation as soon as it hits the House floor.

Listen, I don’t want this government shutdown to continue. But handing Republicans everything they want is not acceptable. Allowing Donald Trump to jack up the cost of your health care is not acceptable.

Democrats need to hold the line, not cower to Republicans just days after we trounced them at the ballot box. If you agree, will you chip in just a few dollars to help me keep fighting this “deal” until the very last moment? [[link removed]]
