Today is Veterans Day — a moment to honor the men and women who’ve worn the uniform and stood up to defend our country.

For me, that uniform was the flight suit of a U.S. Air Force F-16 pilot. I flew 45 combat missions, served for over 30 years, and had the honor of commanding teams in some of the most high-stakes environments imaginable, from Iraq to the International Space Station.

I’ve always believed in service. And while I’m no longer in the cockpit, I’m proud to be serving again as a candidate for Congress in Texas’s 9th District.

Because what I see happening in this country — to our democracy, to our economy, to the working families of TX-09 — demands action and is a call to public service.

Greg Abbott and Donald Trump are trying to gerrymander this district and silence the voices of the people who live here. The cost of living is going up, our democracy is being rigged, and too many so-called leaders are looking the other way.

I didn’t spend my career serving this country just to watch it fall apart.
