Hi John — Today and every day we honor our nation’s veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our country.

As a combat veteran myself, I understand the true patriotism that it takes to serve. That’s why it is so important to me that veterans have all the support they have earned once they return home.

It is our duty to ensure our veterans have access to the most basic rights: healthcare, housing, and food. Yet, of the nearly 2 million California veterans, 10 percent rely on SNAP benefits for food assistance and 12 percent depend on Medicare or Medicaid for their healthcare.

We must continue to support our veterans and their families. Their service can be a reminder for us all,

John. Our fight is stronger when we stand together and put the greatness of our nation before our own.
