John,
Love146. I vividly recall the first time I heard its name. I began to read about its purpose and programmes. Then I clicked on a video that would change my life ([link removed]) , the video where Love146 Co-founder Rob Morris explains the origin of the name Love146. Both outraged and inspired, I didn’t sleep that night - replaying the story of its naming in my mind, reflecting on the grave injustices that innocent children impacted by trafficking undergo, and, like so many of our supporters, like you, feeling compelled to contribute to Love146’s mission.

As I step into the role as Chief Development Officer, I do this with a great sense of urgency, passion, and commitment. With two decades of experience ([link removed]) in the humanitarian sector, focused on rights-based missions for children both internationally and in the US, I have seen firsthand the detrimental consequences that physical and mental trauma have on children.

Children deserve to be children, to play, to learn, to be safe, to shape their futures freely. But far too many are robbed of this basic right.

Only a few weeks into my role, I am getting a deeper understanding of the remarkable organization Love146 is. It is remarkable due to its impact on the children and youth we serve, in both prevention and survivor care. It is remarkable due to its extensive knowledge on trafficking and child exploitation, and how to translate this into action. It’s remarkable that it offers information and services other providers don’t, for example, the way we never close a case for young people in our Survivor Care, so they don’t age out of support just because they hit 18.

And Love146 is remarkable because of the unwavering commitment of our supporter base. Partners like you. I’ve been fortunate to have met several of our partners already. I have listened to stories describing why they support Love146 and heard about the tremendous trust they place in its work. Whether we’ve met yet or not, I certainly intend to maintain and honor this trust you place in us.

The holiday season is a time for reflection and pause, a time to care, a time to experience joy, safety, and presence with our loved ones. As beautiful as this season is, it can also be a hard time for youth healing from trafficking. Our team is ready to be there for them, offering safety, care, and space to heal.

Just like that night I first learned what Love146 meant, I’m stepping forward in this role with both heartbreak and also with hope. Thank you for your trust and continued support ([link removed]) as we strive towards our vision: the end of child trafficking and exploitation. Nothing less.

Sincerely,
[link removed]
