Today, we honor the Americans who’ve worn our nation’s uniform. Those who’ve served with courage, humility, and a commitment to something greater than themselves.
Every veteran’s story is different, but they share one thing in common: they showed up when their country needed them. They didn’t do it for recognition or reward, but because service — in its truest form — means putting others first.

I was honored to serve free meals to veterans and their families this morning at the Veterans Inc. annual pancake breakfast.
When I joined the Marine Corps after college, my mentor told me that it’s not enough to salute the flag; you have to find your own way to serve your country. Veterans Day is a reminder of that simple truth, and of our responsibility to live up to the ideals they fought to protect.
"While a bright future beckoned, they freely gave their lives and fondest hopes for us and our allies that we might learn from them the courage in peace to spend our lives making a better world for others.”
So today, I hope you’ll take a moment to thank a veteran, listen to their story, and reflect on what their service means. We owe them not just our gratitude, but our promise to keep building the kind of country they believed in when they raised their right hand.
