Dear Friends,
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined me for Seguimos Aquí at SOMOS. Our gathering brought together over 300 leaders from across New York City united around a shared vision for working people, Latino leadership, and solidarity across our city.
From so many of my Council colleagues, to labor partners like TWU, Unite Here! Local 100, Teamsters Local 210, and champions from the Working Families Party, your presence made this night a true celebration of our collective power.
As I said that evening, I am deeply proud of the work we’ve done together to ensure everyday New Yorkers have a voice at City Hall. As a proud Bronx Latina from a working-class family, I will continue fighting to make sure that voice grows louder — with authentic, independent leadership grounded in integrity and community.
A special thank you to my honorees - Adolfo Carrion, Melissa Aviles-Ramos, Yesenia Mata, and the Leadership of Unite Here! Local 100; and to Assemblymember Amanda Septimo for her powerful words of support and to all of my Bronx sisters in government who continue to stand with me as we push for equitable, inclusive leadership that reflects the city we serve.
Our message was clear: Seguimos Aquí — we are still here, and we are moving forward together. Thank you for standing with me and for your continued commitment to building a stronger, more just New York City for all.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Amanda Farías
Majority Leader, New York City Council
Council Member, District 18
