Email from Trisha Calvarese for Congress John, Every day, especially today on Veterans Day, we should honor the courage and sacrifice of American veterans. For me, this is personal. My Grandpa Joe was a medic in the North African Campaign during World War II. He was lucky to survive after a bomb landed outside his foxhole without detonating (see pic below). His bravery and dedication to helping others shaped the person I am today.  Unfortunately, my Congresswoman Lauren Boebert doesn’t honor our veterans. In 2022, she voted against the PACT Act, a landmark law that expanded health care and benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances like burn pits and Agent Orange. Her opposition to this bill was so venomous that at the State of the Union she heckled Danielle Robinson, the widow of Sergeant Heath Robinson, who the bill was named after. After this I met with Danielle and her mom, heard their story and even did an ad with them last year. Then when Boebert and I debated last year, I pressed her for an answer on why she opposed this common sense bill. She cited not wanting to increase big government spending. Boebert still went on to back a plan that will cut PTSD treatment and mental-health care for our nation’s heroes (also under the auspices of shrinking the budget). She will back unlimited military spending and foreign wars but when our veterans return home from fighting in these wars she kicks them to the curb. That isn’t right. She is vulnerable and remains in Congress because of just 546 votes. In 2024 when we went head to head, I had the best performance a Democrat has ever had in this district whereas she underperformed Trump in every county. In 2026 we can beat her but I will need your help. This Veterans Day, I’m asking you to stand with me to defend the men and women who gave so much for our country from Lauren Boebert.
