| “We support the troops and we’re gonna bring war to an end!” Support the Troops by Jacob David George (1982 - 2014) |
| Dear friend,
Our nation is in a fight for its core values. In the same week that the first trillionaire-making pay package was announced, millions of Americans are going without SNAP. While ministers praying for disappeared family and neighbors are banned from federal property, the Pentagon hosts Christian Nationalist prayer services. After voters declared affordability and zealous democratic representation were priorities, the Senators folded on the needs of poor constituents. These contradictions show the struggle at the core of America today. This struggle touches the lives of every American, and it’s a struggle we’re ready to wage.
In this letter: Veterans Day: Join Common Defense in condemning the Trump Administration’s misuse of federal forces Congratulations: Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis was honored as a distinguished alumni with the UPenn Award of Merit Events: The rest of the month we’re taking part in so many powerful events. We hope to see you there.
With radical hope, The Kairos Team |

| | | Today, we look to our veteran leaders spearheading the charge against the illegal deployment of our military, national guard, and other federal forces. As extremist politicians and corporate elites try to divide us, veterans are mobilizing to demand justice, transparency, and accountability. They refuse to stay silent in the face of rising racism, hate, and violence. In addition to hosting town halls and other events this Veterans Day, our co-strugglers at Common Defense have been loudly condemning the federal government’s recent abuse of the armed forces.

Thurs, Nov 20: Learn more about Luke 10 Congregations |
At this critical moment in history, when Christianity is being distorted and weaponized, churches can – and indeed must – play an important role in rebuilding community connections, meeting urgent needs, confronting and resisting attacks on the poor and marginalized, and casting a vision for the just and inclusive society we are called to build. The Luke 10 Congregations program is designed to support congregations in meeting this moment, while creating a supportive network of congregations who are all seeking to do this work in their respective communities.
More information sessions will be held: Tuesday December 9th @ 7pm ET / 4pm PT Thursday January 22nd @ 12pm ET / 9am PT |

Jan 24, 2026: Being the Church: One Day Conference |
Poverty continues to plague our communities and nation. Unfortunately, deprivation in certain communities is rooted in systemic oppression and inequitable policies that disproportionately impact underrepresented groups. Churches and their members have a vital role in pursuing justice and equality. This year’s Being the Church One-Day Conference will examine the link between policy and poverty, equipping congregations to move beyond charity-based responses toward a dual focus – meeting immediate needs while advocating for lasting systemic change. |
