![]() John, I just sat down with Jon Stewart, and I didn’t hold back: Too many right-wing politicians love to wrap themselves in the flag — but then turn their backs on my fellow veterans when they think people aren’t looking. Lots of Republicans in Congress voted to block the PACT Act — a bill that helps veterans (like me) exposed to toxic burn pits. They’ve pushed schemes to gut and privatize the VA and to underfund the very fund that pays for care for toxic-exposed veterans. And the same phony patriots are all in on pardoning the rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6th and the fake electors part of the scheme to overthrow the 2020 election. Take Scott Perry. Oathbreakers like him tried to overthrow the 2020 election in Pennsylvania, and he smeared veterans who don’t share his right-wing politics, so they can miss me with any kind of lecture about patriotism. Here’s the honest truth: No party has a monopoly on patriotism. And Democrats need to do more than call out hypocrisy — we need to prove we’ve got veterans’ backs when they come home. That means creating a direct pipeline for veterans to turn their military skills into solid jobs when they return home. It means protecting and expanding the VA, not selling it off piece by piece. It means making sure every veteran has the best VA healthcare our country can deliver. That’s what economic patriotism looks like. My fellow veterans deserve better than empty slogans and broken promises. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
