Brothers and Sisters,
Today is Veterans Day, a day we honor and celebrate those who have worn the uniform of our nation's military. For those who served, we are eternally thankful!
As the wife of a marine combat veteran, I know firsthand the sacrifices that our veterans make. I know why it's so important to not just say "thank you for your service," but actually show our appreciation.
Unfortunately, we are living in times when our appreciation for veterans is being turned upside down by our federal government. Not only are we facing cuts to an already lean VA, but we are seeing the mass firing of veteran union members throughout our federal government.
If you are a veteran or the spouse of a veteran, we would like to invite you to join the California Federation of Labor Unions' Veterans Council; we value your insight and input and would love to hear more about how we can engage veteran families in the movement!
Please take a moment to fill out this Google form with a few things about your military service (or your spouse's military service) and your contact information, and we will send you a beautiful T-shirt to help remind folks that there is at least one simple way to honor those who served. Stop firing them!
Happy Veterans Day. Thank you for your service.
In Solidarity,
Lorena Gonzalez
