Dear John,

Parents Against Vaping is proud to present the next 2025 Clear the Vapor Conversations event:

The Pouch Problem: Protecting Kids from a New Nicotine Trend
🗓️ Tuesday, December 2
🕕 6:00 PM ET | 📍Zoom
FREE!

Register now for an urgent conversation about how nicotine pouches—discreet, flavored, and dangerously addictive—are becoming Big Tobacco’s newest product aimed at young people. Marketed as “tobacco-free” and “clean,” these pouches are anything but harmless. They’re designed to look trendy and easy to hide, making them particularly appealing to teens and young adults.

Join Parents Against Vaping and Dr. Shivani Mathur Gaiha, Scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital, for an evidence-based discussion on how nicotine pouches are changing the nicotine landscape—and what parents can do to protect their kids.

Dr. Gaiha’s research examines how products like e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches are marketed, how they influence youth behavior, and what policies and prevention programs can counter their appeal.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Identify how nicotine pouches are promoted to youth
  • Understand the health and addiction risks of these products
  • Talk with kids about emerging nicotine trends
  • Take meaningful action to protect your community

🌟 Submit your questions when you register—there will be a live moderated Q&A.

🎥 All registrants will receive access to the recording.

Nicotine products may evolve, but our mission remains the same: protecting kids from addiction and empowering parents with the truth. Together, we can stop Big Tobacco’s next wave before it takes hold.

Dr. Shivani Mathur Gaiha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Harvard Medical School and a Research Scientist in the Adolescent/Young Adult Division at Boston Children’s Hospital. Her work examines the drivers of adolescent tobacco and nicotine use, with a focus on marketing influences. Her current studies focus on how youth are drawn to new oral nicotine products like nicotine pouches and how public health programs and policies can counter their appeal.

Like our previous conferences, the Clear the Vapor Conversations series convenes researchers, public health advocates, and leading experts as they participate in informative discussions held throughout the year. The series addresses a variety of topics including environmental harms caused by vaping, how schools can take action, and engaging youth to quit. Each event features a moderated discussion with your questions answered live.
