Jon Stewart roasts Democrats for "world-class collapse" after eight senators cave to Trump

An animated Jon Stewart held exactly nothing back in his scathing assessment of the great Democratic fold in the Senate, speaking for millions of exasperated Americans when he declared: "Tonight’s show will be brought to you by: I can’t fucking believe it. I can’t fucking believe it: For when the ‘I can’t believe it' Edvard Munch scream emoji doesn’t quite convey how much you cannot fucking believe it. They fucking caved on the shutdown, not even a full week removed from the best election night results they’ve had in years... Democrats, you sold out the entire shutdown not to get what you wanted but for a promise to not get what you wanted later." Roll the tape, and, please, when the time comes, vote accordingly.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Democrats who caved to Trump get surprise bad news

The fallout has only just begun for Chuck Schumer and the eight "moderate" Senate Democrats who inexplicably caved to Donald Trump in the historic shutdown fight that is now set to end with ZERO concessions from Republicans on protecting healthcare for millions of Americans. Brian Tyler Cohen spoke with Indivisible's Ezra Levin, who announced the group's largest primary program to date, putting "sitting Democratic senators and representatives who are currently siding with the roll-over-and-play-dead caucus" on official blast that they will face real consequences AND well-funded primary challengers as a result of their capitulation. Levin explained, "I would love nothing more than to be a cheerleader for the Democratic unified opposition, but we have to be real, that after a year of trying to convince this leadership that it should take on this regime and treat it like a serious threat — they're not listening anymore. So we can either give up...or we can demand a party that fights back... We cannot afford a party that surrenders while the fascists are terrorizing our communities, are invading our cities, and are menacing our democratic institutions... We need a strong, unified Democratic Party that fights back. We're not gonna get it by asking nicely. We're going to get it by demanding it in the primaries that are coming up."

Veteran Richard Ojeda takes on one of Trump’s top allies

Richard Ojeda for Congress: Richard Ojeda served his country for 24 years in the US Army, and now he’s ready to do it again in Congress. He’s running against one of Trump’s top cronies, Richard Hudson, who just so happens to be the man who told his fellow Republicans to stop holding town halls and just ignore their constituents. It’s time the American people had some leaders who will actually listen to them and not just their millionaire donors. Will you chip in to help Ojeda flip this critical seat in a must-win battleground state?

Trump warns of "devastating" $3 trillion hit if Supreme Court overturns his tariff powers
While the nation's highest court currently considers whether America's wannabe dictator grossly exceeded his presidential powers under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act with his catastrophic tariff crusade, the MAGA cult leader himself is wasting no time making his case in the court of public opinion, warning that taking away his proverbial wrecking ball will have devastating effects on the economy, a move he claims could cost the country in excess of $3 trillion dollars. And what about those mouth-watering dividend checks he just promised everyone? I mean, we can't just take those away from folks right before the holiday season, amirite? Donald took things several steps further later in the day, telling reporters that a SCOTUS ruling against his tariff war would actually be a "national security disaster." It's a compelling argument: "I've so badly shattered any semblance of presidential norms and am behaving in such destabilizing, dictatorial fashion, any unwinding or walking back of my runaway regime's worst policies will spell total ruin for the country. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please pass me my crown and sceptre." Let's hope at least five justices aren't buying it.

MTG bites back at Donald Trump diss that "she's lost her way"
One of the more unexpected plot twists of 2025 has been Marjorie Taylor Greene's growing willingness to speak her mind when it doesn't fully align with the MAGA cult leader she has longed championed since joining Congress in 2021. The far-right QAnon enthusiast certainly hasn't lurched left or anywhere near the center, but she's increasingly speaking out in ways that don't exactly jive with the cult she jumped in bed with half a decade ago. In recent weeks Greene has criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson for his inept leadership, called for the immediate release of the Epstein files, and (rightly) pointed out that groceries and other cost-of-living expenses simply haven't fallen under Trump, a simple and easily verifiable truth that earned a dismissive rebuke from the wannabe dictator himself, who said, "I don't know what happened to Marjorie. She’s a nice woman, but I don't know what happened. She’s lost her way, I think." Greene's office fired off a curt response, reading, "I haven't lost my way. I’m 100% America first and only!"

MAGA Rep. Randy Fine says New York City has fallen to "Muslim terror"

Florida Republican and perennial contestant on America's Got Tyrant™ Randy Fine was back on his histrionic bullshit yesterday, tweeting that New York City has fallen to "Muslim terror" with the mayoral election of Zohran Mamdani. Look, Mamdani, a champion of women's rights, the LGBTQ community, universal healthcare, affordable public transportation, economic equality, and the like, is clearly a terrorist because all Muslims are terrorists in Randy Fine's book. The MAGA congressman, whose Twitter "pronouns" are "Hebrew/Hammer," shared his latest hot take on the same day that his cult leader welcomed new Syrian President Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa to the White House, himself a Muslim who once fought against the United States as part of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, though he has since denounced sectarian violence and jihad. Weird how Fine hasn't had jack shit to say about that encounter, eh?

Drug dealer freed from prison by Trump now back behind bars for new crimes
Oh, hey, would you look at that. Yet ANOTHER amoral recidivist freed by Donald Trump is back in trouble with the law. "How on earth does this keep happening?" asked no one capable of connecting incredibly obvious dots.

Trump attacks air traffic controllers who missed unpaid shifts during shutdown
America's wannabe dictator took to his insipid social network platform yesterday and ID'd the real enemies in his disastrous government shutdown: the air traffic controllers who have gone unpaid for more than 40 days and dared to take an unpaid day off work. The disdain this man has for the very people he purportedly serves is honestly unsurprising at this point, but unconscionable nonetheless. Trump threatened that any air traffic controllers who do not immediately return to work would be substantially "docked" and said he'd be recommending bonuses to the "GREAT PATRIOTS" who showed up despite being hung out to dry by a Republican-controlled government utterly indifferent to the suffering of its constituents. Not exactly sure how you "dock" someone who's already not getting paid, but you do you, Donnie.

Experts slam Trump administration's 50-year-mortgage idea, calling it a "band-aid"

Nothing screams late-stage capitalism and runaway inequality like greenlighting predatory, 50-year mortgages for people who've long since given up on the centerpiece of the so-called American dream. A typical 30-year mortgage already sees homebuyers pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest over the life of the loan, but affords owners the opportunity to actually build a bit of wealth in the process. Extending the payback term another 20 years would DOUBLE the amount of interest paid in many cases — a catastrophic wealth-killer for many would-be buyers that would ALSO force many people into higher-interest mortgage traps well into their 80s and 90s. No wonder experts have labeled this new plan a "distraction," a "gimmick," and a "band-aid" that does nothing to address the root problems of today's housing crisis: affordability and supply. Trump's Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte actually tweeted (with what we can only assume was a straight face): "A 50 Year Mortgage is simply a potential weapon in a WIDE arsenal of solutions that we are developing right now. STAY TUNED!" Oh, it's a weapon alright — one to be wielded against the most vulnerable among us.

Trump argues with Fox News host over foreign students attending US universities: "I know what MAGA wants better than anybody else"
Funny thing about demagoguery: when you relentlessly disparage people from other countries a LOT of folks take note and simply slot the xenophobia into their operating worldview. During an interview with Fox News' Laura Ingraham yesterday, Donald Trump was forced to defend his administration's seemingly incongruous plan to allow hundreds of thousands of foreign students from China and elsewhere attend US universities — a long-established practice that has been boon for American ingenuity and critical to the solvency of our sprawling, post-secondary education system. The pushback from Ingraham, a far-right, "America First" sabre-rattler in her own right, is understandable: Trump and his MAGA goons have for years spoken out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to immigrants, preying upon conservative Americans' ill-defined fears of otherness. "Why the doublespeak?" Ingraham and the like want to know. Because while xenophobia may sell well on the campaign trail, it sure as shit doesn't pay the bills.

Trump fesses up: "I could've built the ballroom around" East Wing "but…"
Lord Goldemort openly admitted that he didn't have to raze the entire East Wing of the White House to make way for his ridiculous ballroom, but where's the fun in NOT shitting on history while playing faux-king palace builder?
