Connecticut has a long and proud tradition of showing up for those who served in our military.

In 1864, while the war between the North and South still raged, wounded and disabled soldiers returned home unable to work. And while the federal government had national homes, the need was overwhelming, and it simply wasn't enough.
Connecticut didn't wait for the federal government to act. We took care of our people and established the first State Veterans Home in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
Over 161 years later, that tradition continues today. From the USS Nautilus in Groton to the VA hospitals in West Haven and Newington, Connecticut, veterans have continued to serve their communities long after they took off the uniform.
But honoring our service members isn’t something that just happens once a year. It’s a daily responsibility. That’s why Connecticut’s Veterans Caucus advocates for veterans and their families at both the state and federal levels, ensuring their service and sacrifices are never forgotten.
