Team, I want to wish you a happy Veterans Day.
Massachusetts is the home of America’s military tradition. And we claim it proudly.
Before we were even a state: every town and hamlet of Massachusetts formed militias for community defense. They worked together to protect the common good. And that’s why 250 years ago, they were ready when the time came to stand up for their rights, launch a Revolution, and start a new country.
Throughout our history and to this very day, our veterans have defended our freedom, expanded our democracy, and ensured our prosperity.
That is why I was proud to sign the most pro-veteran legislation in America, the HERO Act, that expands the benefits that all our veteran heroes deserve.
Veterans Day is not only about looking back at our history in Massachusetts. It’s also about looking forward. It’s about the central role that veterans play in our state today.
They safeguarded our past — and they will continue to ensure our future.
So I want to thank all of our Massachusetts veterans for their service and sacrifice, and I wish you and yours a meaningful Veterans Day.
