This Veterans Day we pause to honor the brave individuals who served our country. It's a time to renew our commitment to our veterans, who deserve not just our gratitude but also our active support.
I grew up with the stories of service passed down from my grandparents, three of whom served in World War II. Both my grandfathers were pilots, and my grandmother proudly served in the Coast Guard. Their courage and dedication shaped my understanding of patriotism and continue to inspire me every single day.
Today far too many of our veterans face serious challenges when it comes to basic needs like housing, health care, employment, and food security. As a nation we owe them more than our remembrance — we owe them meaningful action that reflects the depth of their service.
This summer I introduced legislation to require the VA to operate a full-service Veterans Health Administration hospital in New Hampshire — the only state in the contiguous United States that doesn’t have one. Our veterans have put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms, and they ought to receive the care and benefits they have earned after their service.
I hope you’ll join me in honoring those who served by doing right by them. That’s how we live up to the promise we’ve made to every American who wears the uniform.
Wishing you and your family a safe and meaningful Veterans Day.
With appreciation,
Chris
