If you only read one thing before you head to bed tonight, please do me the honor by making it this… Patriot, it’s Jen Kiggans, and if you haven’t met me yet, I’d really love to introduce myself. It’ll only take a minute or two. I come from a long line of veterans, so it wasn’t a surprise when I felt called to serve as a Navy helicopter pilot in the Persian Gulf. My grandpa served in the Navy during WWII as a postman. My dad served during the Vietnam War as a Green Beret and retired as a Colonel. My husband is a retired F/A-18 pilot in the Navy, flying in Iraq and Afghanistan. And now, I’m a Navy mom, too! As a Navy veteran serving in Congress, service is more than simply voting “yea” or “nay.” It’s about rolling up your sleeves, doing the research, listening to your neighbors, and dedicating every day to making our country better and stronger. Now that I’ve been in Congress for two years, I can say with total certainty that whatever you think of the DC Swamp and its creatures, it’s even WORSE than what you’re imagining. For too long, egos and power struggles have stopped Washington politicians from creating meaningful change for hard-working families. It’s like once these spineless politicians win their elections, they stop caring about the people who elected them to serve and represent them. They’ll say anything to get elected, but then they sell their vote to the highest bidder! My mission in Washington is the same as when I served in the Navy: To protect and serve America. In fact, when you’re being sworn into Congress or the Armed Forces, the oath starts the same: “I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” The career politicians would do well to reflect on those words when reporting for work in DC and at home. Service – especially to our country – has guided me my whole life, and I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by veterans who hold that same value so dear. Please support a Navy veteran who is dedicated to our country and our shared conservative values to make sure the Republican Party is delivering for YOU, Patriot. I know this was a long email, so from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for reading my story! -Jen Kiggans USE OF MILITARY RANK, JOB TITLES AND PHOTOGRAPHS IN UNIFORM DOES NOT IMPLY ENDORSEMENT BY THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE OR ANY OF ITS BRANCHES.
