President Trump, floating the idea of a $2,000 direct tariff payment to Americans, obviously reflects his concerns over high consumer prices.  But there are a number of important concepts attached to this.   First, it is giving away free stuff, which is exactly what the Democrats are selling. However, the funds from foreign deals pay for the largesse, so shouldn't working Americans benefit from that?
